Tarzana

This wonderful city in the San Fernando Valley was the site of a former ranch owned by author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of the fictional jungle hero, Tarzan. An ‘a’ was added to the end to become Tarzana!

Tarzana measures just under 9 square miles and boasts a wealth of shops, restaurants and some great places for the “outdoorsy” types! For shopping, there’s Tarzana Village, Tarzana Square Shopping Center and the Village Walk. When you’re hungry, there’s Unwind, Kravings, Cici’s Café, Greystoke Grill, and the top-rated Ancora Cucina Italiana. For hikers & mountain bikers, visit Caballero Canyon’s trails with unobstructed views of the San Fernando Valley. The Tarzana Recreation Center features a gymnasium, BBQ pits, lighted baseball diamond, basketball & volleyball courts. Don’t forget to visit the Tarzana Safari Walk!

Tarzana is a great place for families, with homes in every price range from around $220,000 for a small condo to over $4,500,000 for a large custom home. Tarzana is home to many view properties including the luxurious gated properties of Mulholland Park, Silverhawk, and Monte Verde. Heading north towards Ventura Blvd and beyond, the homes become more affordable and in some areas condos and townhouses are more prevalent.

It is a wonderful place to raise your kids, with great schools: Tarzana Elementary School is a top-rated K-5 public school and Gaspar De Portola Middle School is among the best in 6-8 grade public schools in the area. There’s also Nestle Avenue Charter, offering grades K-5.

Even though Tarzana is miles from Hollywood, it has been the “set” in the television series “Six Feet Under” and the feature film “The Karate Kid.” Celebs Blake Lively and Jon Lovitz were born in beautiful Tarzana and Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”, “Pitch Perfect 2”) calls it her home, amongst many other celebrities and sports stars.
